FBI raids Beverly Hills home tied to ex-Rep. Eric Swalwell probe
What's new: Agents searched a mansion owned by donor Stephen Cloobeck as the criminal investigation widened beyond Swalwell's own properties.
The FBI searched a Beverly Hills mansion Tuesday in connection with its criminal investigation of former U.S. Rep. Eric Swalwell, expanding a probe that had already reached his Washington home and electronic devices. The Justice Department said agents conducted an operation in the Los Angeles area tied to an ongoing investigation but gave no further details. Fox News identified the property as belonging to billionaire Stephen Cloobeck, a longtime Swalwell supporter. Several people were led out in handcuffs and later released, Fox reported. Swalwell, a former California Democrat who left Congress and dropped his gubernatorial bid earlier this year, has denied wrongdoing through his lawyer after multiple women accused him of sexual misconduct.
