The man who shot the teenage attacker during Thursday's mass shooting at Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend, Oregon, was the father of two students at the school, his mother said Friday. Kenda Freeman identified him as Kaylub Giamanco and said he does not want public recognition after intervening inside the building. Authorities have not officially named who shot the 16-year-old suspect, who was found dead minutes after the first emergency calls. The attack killed three students, ages 5, 8 and 11, and a teacher. A 7-year-old child and a 54-year-old teacher were hospitalized in critical condition.
