Fatayat NU launches FANTIK at Muktamar, flags child abuse

Fatayat cites 2024 surveys showing about one in four women and one in two children in Indonesia have faced violence.

The Fatayat Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board launched the Fatayat Anti Violence (FANTIK) movement on the sidelines of the 35th NU Muktamar to promote the prevention of violence against women and children. PP Fatayat NU Advocacy Division head Neng Eem Marhamah Zulfa Hiz said there should be no room for violence against women and children. She cited data from the 2024 National Women’s Life Experience Survey and the 2024 National Survey of Child and Adolescent Life Experience, conducted by the Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection. The data show that about one in four women and one in two children in Indonesia have experienced violence. The 35th NU Muktamar is being held Aug. 27-31, 2026, at Pondok Pesantren Bahrul Ulum, Tambakberas, Jombang Regency, East Java.
