FAA clears Boeing 737 Max 10 after years of delays

What's next: Boeing expects first deliveries in 2027, with 1,555 Max 10s already ordered by more than 30 customers.

The Federal Aviation Administration cleared Boeing's 737 Max 10 for passenger service on Tuesday, ending years of technical and regulatory delays for the largest model in the 737 Max family. The approval lets Boeing sell the jet to US and foreign airlines and marks a key step in the company's effort to rebuild after safety, quality and production setbacks. Boeing says the Max 10 typically seats 185 to 210 passengers, more than the Max 9 and Max 8, giving airlines a higher-capacity narrow-body option against Airbus' A321neo. Boeing expects deliveries to start in 2027. The plane's certification comes after the 737 Max crisis, including two Max 8 crashes in 2018 and 2019 that killed 346 people and a 2024 Alaska Airlines Max 9 midair panel blowout.
