FA Cup first round puts 31 ties on deck as non-league clubs chase upsets
What's new: The BBC is carrying Altrincham vs. Notts County on Saturday and Cray Wanderers vs. Stockport County on Sunday.
The FA Cup first round proper will play out across the weekend, with 31 matches kicking off Saturday as non-league clubs try to knock off Football League opponents. The BBC will televise two ties: National League side Altrincham against League One club Notts County on Saturday, and seventh-tier Cray Wanderers against League One high-flyers Stockport County on Sunday. Cray say they are London's oldest football club and have reached the first round for the first time. The BBC will also air a Sunday highlights show, while TNT Sports is set to carry six other live games. The opening round is a key stage in the competition, bringing in clubs from the bottom two tiers of the Football League.
