ESDM tightens 3-kg LPG recipients as use nears 8.6 million tons
The government is preparing welfare-decile limits for recipients after distribution is projected to exceed the 2026 state budget quota.
The ESDM Ministry is preparing to tighten distribution of 3-kilogram LPG by limiting subsidy recipients based on welfare deciles. The move comes as 2026 consumption of 3-kg LPG is projected to reach 8.6 million tons, above the 2026 APBN quota of 8 million tons. Oil and gas director general Laode Sulaeman said realized distribution through July 2026 had reached 5.05 million tons, and by year-end it is expected to hit 8.677 million tons, or 108.46 percent of the quota. ESDM also highlighted that 3-kg LPG distribution remains open, allowing all segments of society to buy it. The government will match user data with Pertamina, Ditjen Dukcapil, and BPS as the basis for more targeted distribution. In the 2027 RAPBN, the quota for 3-kg LPG is also being raised to 8.9 million tons.
