ESDM: Rolling blackouts in Java not caused by coal stock
The government pointed to generator trouble, while PLN said at least 14 areas in Jawa Barat were affected.
The ESDM Ministry denied reports that rolling blackouts in Java, including Jabodetabek, were triggered by dwindling coal stocks. ESDM Minister Bahlil Lahadalia and ESDM spokesperson Dwi Anggia said the main problem was technical disruption, especially trouble in a number of generating units. Bahlil said the government held a meeting with PLN on Thursday night, 11 June 2026, to speed up recovery and prevent repeated outages. In Jabodetabek, outages were reported over the past week with varying lengths. Elsewhere, complaints also came from Cianjur, Semarang, Madura, and other areas. PLN had earlier announced rolling blackouts affecting at least 14 areas in Jawa Barat since Wednesday, 10 June.
