Former Perbakin official named suspect in abuse of 15-year-old athlete
The case involves a juvenile victim from Jawa Timur, and police have already named the alleged perpetrator a suspect.
A former Perbakin official has been named a suspect in a sexual abuse case involving a 15-year-old shooting athlete from Jawa Timur. The case has drawn scrutiny because it took place in a sports environment that is supposed to be safe for young athletes. On Wednesday (24/6/2026), Youth and Sports Minister Erick Thohir denounced the case as a serious crime that cannot be tolerated, especially because the victim is a minor. He backed the legal process under way and said the suspect, if found guilty in a final and binding ruling, should no longer be involved in athlete development or any sports activity. Kemenpora also said it would support protection, assistance, and recovery for the victim and her family.
