Egypt beat New Zealand 3-1, make World Cup history
It was Egypt's first win at a World Cup finals, ending a 92-year wait since their 1934 debut.
Egypt came from behind to defeat New Zealand 3-1 in a FIFA World Cup 2026 Group G match at BC Place in Vancouver, Canada, on Monday (22/6). Mohamed Salah played a key role in the historic victory. According to a Republika report citing BBC, Salah's 67th-minute goal turned the match around, and his corner led to Trezeguet's goal that put Egypt clear. Antara also reported that Mostafa Zico and Omar Marmoush featured in the match. The result was Egypt's first win in their history at a World Cup finals, ending a 92-year wait since their debut in 1934. Egypt had previously failed to record a victory in the 1934, 1990 and 2018 editions.
