Edinburgh anti-Muslim attacks injure 5; terror police arrest man

What's new: Police said three victims needed hospital treatment, but none of the injuries were life-threatening.

Scottish counterterrorism officers are investigating a string of suspected anti-Muslim attacks across Edinburgh that left five men injured and ended with the arrest of a 36-year-old white Scottish man. Police Scotland said officers received multiple emergency calls late June 19 about violent incidents involving threats, robbery and vandalism. Two men were first attacked in Sighthill, and three others were assaulted elsewhere in the city. The victims, ages 22, 22, 24, 27 and 39, suffered various injuries. Police said there was no further threat to the public. Prime Minister Keir Starmer called the attacks appalling, while First Minister John Swinney said there was no place for racism or intolerance in Scotland.
