East Java opens public high schools for 35th NU congress transit
Schools in Jombang city and Tembelang will shift to online classes on Aug. 26-28 so classrooms, mosques and toilets can be used by participants.
The East Java Education Office is preparing public high school and vocational school buildings as transit points for participants in the 35th Nahdlatul Ulama Congress in Jombang on Aug. 27-31, 2026. The move is intended to offset limited lodging in Jombang Regency. Facilities opened include classrooms, mosques, bathrooms and toilets for rest, prayers and washing before the groups continue their journey. On Aug. 26-28, schools in the Jombang city district and Tembelang District will conduct online learning so unused facilities can be diverted to participants. Schools in other areas will continue normal classes. East Java Education Office head Aries Agung Paewai said several schools near the event site are also preparing snacks for groups that stop by.
