Eagles QB Jalen Hurts likely out for season with blood clots
Why it matters: Philadelphia says Hurts has deep vein thrombosis and clots in both lungs, ruling out football while he takes blood thinners.
Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts is expected to miss the rest of the season after doctors found deep vein thrombosis and bilateral pulmonary emboli, meaning blood clots reached both lungs. The team and his agent, Nicole Lynn, said Monday that Hurts is clinically stable, has no significant functional limitations and is expected to make a full recovery. He was placed on injured reserve Saturday after initially being diagnosed with a superficial clot in his left calf following an Oct. 4 game against the Los Angeles Rams. Hurts cannot take part in football activities while on blood thinners. Philadelphia lost 25-14 to the Carolina Panthers on Sunday with Tanner McKee starting, dropping the Eagles to 2-4 and extending their skid to four games.
