Dua Lipa backs Albania protests over Trump-family resort
Daily demonstrations have reached a sixth week as Albania's anti-corruption prosecutors probe a land-value surge in Zvërnec.
Singer Dua Lipa has voiced support for a wave of protests in Albania opposing the construction of a luxury resort linked to Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner. In the Service95 Book Club podcast aired July 14, Lipa called the movement “inspiring” and highlighted rule changes that, she said, removed environmental protections without public consultation. Demonstrations in Tirana have been held daily since late May and have grown from opposition to the project in the protected Zvërnec area into calls for Prime Minister Edi Rama to resign. The project also includes Sazan Island. Albania's anti-corruption prosecutor's office, SPAK, is now investigating the land transfer process, including an increase in valuation from 5,5 million euro to 122 million euro within months.
