Driver, 38, arrested after fatal hit-and-run near Suntec City

What’s new: Police booked the driver on drink-driving and causing-death charges as friends seek witness and dashcam footage.

A 38-year-old man was arrested after a hit-and-run near Suntec City left a 43-year-old pedestrian dead in the early hours of July 16, Singapore police said. Officers were alerted to the crash involving a car and a pedestrian along 1 Raffles Boulevard at about 12:40 a.m. The driver had left before police arrived. The pedestrian was taken unconscious to Tan Tock Seng Hospital, where he later died. Friends and local outlets identified the victim as Dan Xiao TingFeng. Police said the driver was arrested for drink-driving and driving without due care and attention causing death, and is also assisting in an investigation for failing to stop after an accident. A friend, Liang Jun Min, appealed for witnesses and dashcam or CCTV footage.
