DPR urges Imigrasi probe into alleged WNI bias in Canggu
Entourage organizers halted all Bali events and said some +62 numbers were rejected by an automated approval bias.
DPR Commission XIII member Rieke Diah Pitaloka has asked the Directorate General of Immigration to investigate allegations of discrimination against WNI in the Entourage Run event in Canggu, Bali. The call followed social media posts alleging that prospective participants with Indonesian passports were barred from joining the community event. Rieke said that if true, nationality-based restrictions in public spaces run against the spirit of diversity and should be reviewed from an immigration angle, including whether the event was organized in a way that did not match WNA stay permits. On the other hand, Entourage organizers denied intentionally discriminating against WNI. In an Instagram post, they said the disputed event was Disco Silent Run, their first paid activity, and acknowledged a bias in the automatic approval system that caused some +62 numbers to be rejected. Entourage also said it had temporarily suspended all of its events and activities in Bali.
