DPR scrutinizes involvement of Babinsa and Bhabinkamtibmas in tax oversight

The debate over involving Babinsa and Bhabinkamtibmas in monitoring taxpayer compliance has spread to the DPR. DPR Speaker Puan Maharani said involving security personnel in tax matters must not lead to coercion or erode public trust, and said the relevant commission would examine the policy. A day earlier, House Commission I Chairman Utut Adianto also warned the step should not intimidate taxpayers or create moral hazard in the field. The dispute followed the Directorate General of Taxes' issuance of Circular Letter SE-8/PJ/2026 on 15 July 2026. The rule said Babinsa and Bhabinkamtibmas could be involved in building information networks, including during visitations and canvassing. The DJP then emphasized that the two are not tax auditors or collectors, but coordination assistants in the region.
