DPR Urges Review of TNI Ammunition Depot After Madiun Blast
The blast has widened scrutiny to safety standards, facility upgrades and ammunition oversight across the TNI.
Komisi I DPR has called for a comprehensive review of all TNI ammunition storage facilities after an explosion at Gudang Pusat Munisi II Pusat Peralatan Angkatan Darat in Saradan, Madiun Regency, East Java, killed one soldier and injured six others. Komisi I Deputy Chairman Dave Laksono said the incident showed the need to improve ammunition storage governance and safety standards, along with modernizing facilities and security technology. The explosion occurred Thursday (16/7) as TNI AD personnel inspected and maintained munition materiel in one of the warehouses. According to TNI AD information chief Brig. Gen. Donny Pramono, four of the victims suffered serious injuries and two sustained minor injuries. TNI AD has closed the site and sent an investigation team to determine the sequence of events and the type of munition that exploded.
