DPR approves Destry Damayanti as BI governor for 2026-2031
She is scheduled to be sworn in at the Supreme Court on Sept. 2, with an initial focus on keeping inflation and the rupiah stable.
The DPR RI approved Destry Damayanti as Governor of Bank Indonesia for the 2026-2031 term in a plenary session at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, on Tuesday (1/9/2026). In the same approval package, the DPR also approved Aida S. Budiman as Senior Deputy Governor of BI and Solikin M. Zuhro as Deputy Governor of BI. Destry is scheduled to be sworn in at the Supreme Court on Sept. 2, 2026. After the approval, Destry said BI policy would continue to place stability as a priority amid global economic uncertainty, with the goal of keeping inflation and the rupiah exchange rate stable so the economic climate remains conducive to growth.
