DKI to conduct cloud seeding on Oct. 22-23 before JRF, Ye concert

The DKI Jakarta provincial government will conduct a weather modification operation on Oct. 22-23, 2026, ahead of the Jakarta Running Festival and Ye's concert at Gelora Bung Karno. DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung instructed BPBD to coordinate with BMKG so rain falls before the two events on Oct. 24-25, with the aim of improving air quality and making the activities more comfortable. According to an IQAir report cited by several media outlets, Jakarta's air quality on Wednesday was at an unhealthy level, with the AQI briefly recorded at 175 to 176 and PM2.5 concentration at around 89.5 micrograms per cubic meter. Pramono also left open the possibility of starting the operation earlier on Oct. 21 if cloud conditions are favorable.
