DKI Prepares Transjabodetabek Fare Increase, Not for All Routes

A distance-based fare plan is under review, while subsidies for 18 Transjabodetabek routes in 2026 are set to reach Rp400 miliar.

The DKI Jakarta provincial government is preparing a fare adjustment for Transjabodetabek, but the increase will not apply to all routes. DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung said the new scheme is being finalized, and one route that could see higher fares is Blok M-Bandara Soekarno-Hatta. Current fares remain Rp2.000 from 05.00-07.00 WIB and Rp3.500 from 07.00-22.00 WIB. Pramono is also considering distance-based pricing so the change does not push residents back to private vehicles. In the DKI Jakarta City Council, Commission B members Dwi Rio Sambodo and Muhammad Taufik Zulkifli urged that any adjustment take into account residents' purchasing power, regional fiscal capacity and the effectiveness of subsidies. In 2026, subsidies for 18 Transjabodetabek routes are expected to reach Rp400 miliar out of total Transjakarta subsidies of Rp3,75 triliun.
