DKI Holds Simultaneous Earthquake Drill, 55 Sites in North Jakarta
Evaluation in East Jakarta highlighted the need for sirens and emergency alerts to reach residents faster during evacuation.
The DKI Jakarta provincial government held a simultaneous earthquake drill on Oct. 21 at 10:00 WIB to strengthen disaster preparedness. The exercise took place at government buildings, subdistrict and village offices, BUMD offices and schools, following Insekda e-0044 Tahun 2026. In North Jakarta, BPBD DKI recorded drills at 55 locations, including the mayor's office, community health centers, RSUD and schools. When the siren sounded, participants were asked to follow drop, cover and hold on procedures for two minutes, then evacuate to assembly points via emergency stairs after elevators were shut down. In East Jakarta, BPBD and the city administration also introduced BMKG's InaEEWS application. A post-drill evaluation found the stages went smoothly, but siren response and staff readiness still need improvement so emergency information reaches residents faster.
