DKI steps up 31 TPS 3R to cut residue sent to Bantargebang

Starting Aug. 1, 2026, TPST Bantargebang will no longer accept waste handled under the open dumping system.

The DKI Jakarta provincial government is accelerating efforts to optimize 31 TPS 3R sites to reduce the volume of waste sent to TPST Bantargebang. DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung inspected the TPS 3R Menteng Atas facility in Setiabudi on Thursday, July 30, 2026, and urged it to operate at least two shifts. Jakarta’s waste balance stands at around 9,000 tons per day, while each TPS 3R site can hold back 25-50 tons of waste per day from being sent directly to Bantargebang. At Menteng Atas, household and horeka waste is sorted into RDF and residue; about 20-30 percent is processed into RDF for delivery to cement plants. The facility can handle 100-150 tons per day, but currently processes only about 30 tons per shift. Dudi Gardesi Asikin, head of the DKI Environment Agency, said a partnership model with PT Morego Green Indonesia and PT Metro Klina Intranusa will be used to optimize other locations.
