DKI accelerates Ciliwung normalization, 62 of 170 plots freed
In Cawang, 108 remaining plots are targeted for completion by end-2026, backed by Rp300 miliar for three river projects.
The DKI Jakarta provincial government is speeding up normalization of the Kali Ciliwung segment in Cawang to reduce flooding, with land acquisition being carried out directly without intermediaries. DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung is targeting completion in Rawajati, Pangadegan, Cawang, and Cililitan in 2027, coinciding with Jakarta's 500th anniversary. In Cawang, 62 of the 170 targeted plots have already been freed. The remaining 108 plots are targeted for completion by the end of 2026. The provincial government has also opened a joint complaint post with Badan Pertanahan Nasional so residents facing administrative problems can process compensation directly. Ika Agustin Ningrum, head of the Water Resources Office, said Rp300 miliar has been set aside for land acquisition for normalization along Kali Ciliwung, Kali Krukut, and Cakung Lama.
