Destry Damayanti to lead Bank Indonesia temporarily after Perry Warjiyo steps down

Bank Indonesia named Senior Deputy Governor Destry Damayanti as acting governor after Perry Warjiyo resigned from the BI governor post for personal reasons. The decision was made at the Board of Governors Meeting on July 26, 2026. Trimegah Sekuritas Indonesia Chief Economist Fakhrul Fulvian said the move is important to maintain market confidence during the transition, but stressed the need for quick certainty on monetary policy continuity, central bank independence and the stability of the rupiah exchange rate. Destry has served two terms as BI Senior Deputy Governor since 2019. She previously served as chief economist at Bank Mandiri, chief economist at Mandiri Sekuritas, a member of the board of commissioners at Lembaga Penjamin Simpanan, and head of the economic task force at Kementerian BUMN.
