France beat Iraq 3-0 after 2-hour storm delay, reach last 32

What's new: Kylian Mbappe scored twice on his 100th cap in Philadelphia as France secured six points from two group matches.

France beat Iraq 3-0 in Philadelphia on Monday night after a weather delay of more than two hours, becoming one of the first teams to reach the World Cup round of 32. Kylian Mbappe scored twice on his 100th appearance for France, with Ousmane Dembele adding the third after play resumed. The match, which started at 5 p.m. local time, was halted at halftime because of heavy rain and lightning threats and did not restart until 8 p.m. BBC reported 68,344 fans were in the stadium, where spectators were told to shelter indoors. Coach Didier Deschamps said the stoppage was a safety issue, while Mbappe called the long wait mentally draining. France now have six points from two group games.
