Gejayan protest blocks Yogyakarta intersection with 10 demands
Traffic was shut down completely before reopening at night after demonstrators stayed on site and briefly burned tires.
Hundreds of students and civil society groups in the Aliansi Rakyat Memanggil held a protest at Simpang Tiga Gejayan, Caturtunggal, Depok, Sleman, Yogyakarta, on Saturday, June 13, 2026. The crowd filled the intersection since the afternoon, set up a podium in the middle of the road, and closed traffic from the north, west and south entirely during the demonstration. The protest targeted policies under President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka. Among the 10 demands carried by the crowd were calls to stop the free nutritious meals program and Koperasi Desa Merah Putih, revoke revisions to the TNI Law, Police Law, Prosecutor's Law and Military Justice Law, and end the criminalization of citizens critical of the government. Toward night, some participants remained and briefly burned tires before traffic access was reopened.
