Delingan Reservoir in Karanganyar shrinks at peak dry season

The water level at Delingan Reservoir in Karanganyar Regency, Central Java, has fallen as the dry season has stretched on for several weeks. Part of the reservoir bed has reemerged; a dead fish was seen in the dried area, while residents used the exposed land to plant peanuts. For people living nearby, the reservoir receding during the dry season is nothing new, and almost every dry season the reservoir bottom is used as temporary farmland. BMKG projects the peak of the dry season in Central Java will occur from July to September 2026. With dry weather and minimal rainfall, further drops in water levels at reservoirs in the area remain a concern in the coming months.
