Day 7, 45% of Jatiwaringin landfill fire area extinguished
300 personnel, 3 water-bombing helicopters and injection methods are deployed as flames continue to burn inside the trash piles.
Efforts to extinguish the fire at TPA Jatiwaringin in Sepatan District, Tangerang Regency entered their seventh day on Monday, July 6, 2026. BNPB reported that about 45% of the total affected area of 14 hectares had been brought under control, although white smoke was still rising and small hotspots continued to appear in several parts of the waste mound. The response involved 300 joint personnel from BPBD Kabupaten/Kota Tangerang, BNPB, TNI, Polri, Manggala Agni Kementerian Kehutanan, the Ministry of Environment, and volunteers. The operation was reinforced with 19 fire trucks, four water tankers, eight excavators, eight bulldozers, three water-bombing helicopters, and two drones. BNPB Director of Emergency Operations Coordination Djohan Darmawan said the fire was not only on the surface but was also burning inside the pile, so crews were using water injection methods similar to peatland fire response.
