Italian foreign minister's personal data leak on dark web

The attacker also offered payment for more details, and Italy wants the case on the agenda at the G7 foreign ministers' meeting in Paris.

Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani reported that his personal data was circulating on the dark web, while the attacker also sought additional information about him and his family. Tajani, who is also deputy prime minister, described the incident as digital intimidation that has lasted for several days. He said Italy's support for Ukraine was the political motive behind the attack. Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni blamed pro-Russian hackers for the leak and called the trade in confidential information on state officials a serious threat. The Italian government has not detailed what data was exposed, and there has been no confirmation that the Foreign Ministry's internal systems were breached. Tajani has asked that the issue be discussed at the G7 foreign ministers' meeting in Paris on 9-10 November 2026.
