Darline Graham draws backlash after debate stumble on Taiwan
What's next: Trump plans a Myrtle Beach rally Friday before Graham faces Ralph Norman in Tuesday's South Carolina GOP Senate runoff.
Sen. Darline Graham came under fire after telling a South Carolina GOP runoff debate she was "not that informed on national security" when asked whether Taiwan and the South China Sea are U.S. security issues. The remark drew boos and quickly became a flashpoint in her race against Rep. Ralph Norman ahead of Tuesday's runoff. Graham later tried to clean up the comment, saying she had "tripped up" on the Taiwan question and that "Taiwan is our friend" while arguing South Carolinians care more about pocketbook issues. Nikki Haley, who backs Norman, criticized Graham online, saying national security is critical in the Senate. Donald Trump has endorsed Graham and is scheduled to rally for her in Myrtle Beach on Friday.
