Crystal Palace keep Pierre Sage after 5-0 loss, but pressure grows
What's next: Sage is expected to lead Palace against Besiktas and Newcastle as Steve Parish weighs whether results improve quickly.
Crystal Palace are sticking with manager Pierre Sage for now after Sunday’s 5-0 defeat at Brighton, but his position is under intense pressure after a poor start to the season. Palace have conceded a league-high 17 goals in seven Premier League games and were three down inside 10 minutes at the Amex before matching the club’s heaviest loss against Brighton. Chairman Steve Parish is understood to have considered making a change but decided Palace, who sit 14th, are not yet in immediate danger. Sage is expected to stay in charge for Thursday’s Europa League trip to Besiktas and Sunday’s league game against Newcastle. Injuries and Axel Disasi’s suspension have complicated Palace’s defensive problems.
