Complaint targets Trump press secretary over law license claims
What's new: A watchdog asked California's bar to investigate whether Katie Zacharia falsely presented herself as a lawyer.
A government watchdog has asked California's state bar to investigate whether White House press secretary Katie Zacharia illegally held herself out as a lawyer without a license. The complaint followed questions over Zacharia's credentials after her first briefing and a muddled answer when reporters asked where she had passed the bar exam. Trump introduced Zacharia as "an attorney" when naming her to the post, but media outlets found no record of an active law license in states where she has lived. Zacharia, a Pepperdine law school graduate, said she practiced international transaction law with the proper credentials. BBC reported she told the New York Times she took California's bar exam after graduating but did not pass.
