ComfortDelGro opens free driverless shuttle rides to public in Punggol
What's next: A longer seven-stop route starts July 1 as the operator discusses fares and paid service timing with regulators.
ComfortDelGro has started offering free public rides on its autonomous shuttle service in Singapore's Punggol district, expanding an earlier invite-only trial. The 25-minute route runs daily from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and links Punggol Coast Mall, One Punggol at Sam Kee LRT station and Block 420A Northshore Drive. A longer 50-minute route is due to begin on July 1, adding stops including Oasis Terraces and Punggol Plaza. More than 1,500 riders used the service during the trial, while local lawmaker Sun Xueling said over 6,000 people have ridden autonomous shuttles in Punggol since January. ComfortDelGro, which works with Pony.ai, has not set a start date or fare for paid rides as talks continue with the Land Transport Authority.
