Colombia beat DR Congo 1-0 to clinch World Cup round of 32
Daniel Munoz's 76th-minute goal made Colombia the seventh team to advance, with two wins from two matches.
Colombia secured a place in the round of 32 at the 2026 World Cup after a 1-0 win over the Democratic Republic of the Congo in their second Group K match at Guadalajara Stadium in Zapopan, Mexico, on Wednesday. Daniel Munoz scored the only goal in the 76th minute to give Colombia six points from two matches and lock up a top-two spot in the group. Throughout the match, DR Congo goalkeeper Lionel Mpasi repeatedly denied chances from James Rodriguez, Luis Diaz, Jhon Arias and Munoz. Colombia twice celebrated additional goals, but Munoz's first-half effort and two late goals by Diaz were disallowed for offside. The result made Colombia the seventh team to reach the knockout stage, while DR Congo still have a chance if they beat Uzbekistan in their final match and wait on other results.
