Civil groups lobby DPR factions on Gibran diploma issue

After Golkar and PKS, PKB received a written appeal, but a follow-up hearing was postponed because DPR is in recess.

Civil society groups continue lobbying parties in the DPR to follow up on the controversy over Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka's high school diploma or equivalent. On Oct. 12-13, two lines of pressure emerged at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Jakarta: Aliansi Kolektif Sipil (AKSI) sought a parliamentary inquiry, while Tim Advokasi Penegak Etika, Moral, dan Integritas Bangsa pushed for a statement of opinion as part of an impeachment process if constitutional requirements are found unmet. After meeting Golkar and PKS, AKSI also submitted its appeal to PKB. PKB faction member Muhammad Khozin said the document was formally received, but further review and a hearing will be rescheduled because Parliament is in recess. Separately, Ahmad Khozinudin said his group also reported alleged forged documents related to an equivalency certificate to Bareskrim Polri.
