Chromebook case verdict for Nadiem Makarim set for June 30

The ruling was pushed back from June 25 because the chief judge’s health worsened, while prosecutors sought an 18-year prison term.

The panel of judges at the Central Jakarta Corruption Court has scheduled the verdict in the alleged Chromebook procurement corruption case involving former Education, Culture, Research and Technology Minister Nadiem Anwar Makarim for Tuesday, June 30, 2026. Chief Judge Purwanto Abdullah said the ruling had originally been planned for June 25, but was postponed because his health had been affected and the panel still needed time to complete the judgment. In the case, Nadiem is accused of causing state losses of Rp2,18 triliun in the procurement of Chromebook laptops and Chrome Device Management at Kemendikbudristek in 2019-2022. Prosecutors previously sought an 18-year prison term, a fine of Rp1 miliar, and Rp5,67 triliun in restitution. Three other defendants are being tried separately, while Jurist Tan remains a fugitive.
