Chelsea have signed striker Danny Welbeck from Brighton & Hove Albion in the 2026 summer transfer window. The former Manchester United and Arsenal forward has agreed to a two-year contract at Stamford Bridge and will immediately join Xabi Alonso's squad on the preseason tour. The transfer fee was not officially disclosed, but British media reports cited by Antara put it at about 5 million pounds sterling. Last season, Welbeck scored 13 goals in 37 Premier League matches, his best return in the competition. His arrival marks an unusual move for Chelsea, who in recent years have mostly bought younger players.
