Chelsea host Manchester United with top-four and pressure at stake
What's at stake: Chelsea can climb back to fourth, while a United win could lift Michael Carrick's side as high as 10th.
Chelsea faced Manchester United on Saturday in a Premier League match carrying weight for both teams' early-season aims. Chelsea entered the game fifth on 13 points after eight matches and could reclaim fourth place with a victory. United started 16th on seven points, but a win could move them up to 12th, 11th or even 10th for at least a few hours. Chelsea brought back Cole Palmer after suspension and gave Estevao a start, while Bruno Fernandes returned for United and Kobbie Mainoo was fit enough for the bench. The buildup also sharpened pressure on the managers, with Chelsea already out of the League Cup and United trying to steady a poor start.
