Case of Doctor Icha in TTU Continues, IDI Probed, LPSK Steps In
Family sought protection from LPSK, while police examine the victim’s written report on alleged intimidation.
Handling of the alleged intimidation case involving doctor Eliza Princila Utami Pakaenoni, or doctor Icha, in Timor Tengah Utara, Nusa Tenggara Timur, has entered a further stage. On 20 July, the Nusa Tenggara Timur Police questioned the head of IDI Timor Tengah Utara as a witness to examine a written report the victim had previously filed with the local IDI after receiving medical treatment. A day later, LPSK visited the victim’s family home in Kabupaten Kupang after receiving a request for protection. AIPKI had earlier highlighted the case and called for a system that guarantees safety for doctors and medical students. The Ministry of Health has also found verbal abuse and intimidation in handling the case, which is suspected to be linked to pressure on doctor Icha before she died on 26 June 2026.
