Whitehouse PAC gave $10,000 to Platner as abuse claims grew

What's new: The Rhode Island senator dismissed the latest report as “a lot of nothing” even after multiple allegations surfaced.

Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse’s leadership PAC gave Maine Democratic Senate candidate Graham Platner $10,000 across two donations, including one in March, as scrutiny of Platner’s conduct intensified. Federal Election Commission records reviewed by Fox News show Whitehouse’s Ocean PAC sent Platner two $5,000 contributions, one last October and one this year before former Maine Gov. Janet Mills suspended her own Senate bid in late April. Whitehouse has continued to back Platner after a New York Times report detailed allegations from former romantic partners that included rape fantasies, heavy drinking and violent episodes. Whitehouse told reporters the latest reporting looked like “a lot of nothing.” Platner is running against Republican Sen. Susan Collins in Maine.
