Calf injury rules Livramento out of England World Cup squad
New: Trevoh Chalobah was called up as a replacement and will join after England's opener against Kroatia.
England have lost Tino Livramento for the 2026 World Cup after the Newcastle United defender suffered a calf injury in training on Sunday. Scan results and follow-up examinations on Monday confirmed the 23-year-old could not take part in the tournament. Thomas Tuchel then called up Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah as a replacement, with travel arrangements to the team camp in Kansas City being finalized. Chalobah will not join before the Group L opener against Kroatia in Dallas on Wednesday local time. FIFA rules allow injured outfield players to be replaced up to 24 hours before the first match. England are grouped with Kroatia, Ghana and Panama.
