BYD brings Flash Charging to Indonesia, battery 97% in 9 minutes

The system uses a 1,500 kW charger and second-generation Blade Battery to sharply cut EV charging time.

BYD launched its ultra-fast Flash Charging technology in Indonesia on Wednesday (14/10/2026) in Jakarta. The system is claimed to charge an electric car battery from 10 percent to 70 percent in five minutes, and from 10 percent to 97 percent in about nine minutes under normal conditions. The technology relies on a charger with output of up to 1,500 kilowatts through a single connector and is paired with second-generation Blade Battery. BYD said the new battery design speeds lithium-ion movement, reduces internal resistance and helps control heat during charging. The company also claimed battery energy density rises by more than 5 percent, driving range can exceed 1,000 kilometers under China’s CLTC standard, and degradation improves by 2,5 percent compared with the first generation.
