Brunei sultan strips daughter-in-law of royal title

The palace did not detail the violation, but said the conduct tarnished the monarchy and showed disrespect to the sultan.

Brunei Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah has stripped his daughter-in-law, Pengiran Raabi'atul Adawiyyah Pengiran Haji Bolkiah, who is married to Prince 'Abdul Malik Hassanal Bolkiah, of her royal title. The decision was announced by the Royal Protocol Office and took effect immediately. Protocol official Pengiran Haji Raffizanna Pengiran Haji Razali said the revocation was made on the sultan's order. According to RTB News, the move was taken because Pengiran Raabi'atul Adawiyyah's conduct was deemed inappropriate for the wife of a member of the royal family, tarnished the reputation of the monarchy, and showed a lack of respect for Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah. The palace did not explain the act or incident behind the title removal.
