Brazil blanks Haiti 3-0, Cunha lifts Selecao atop Group C
Brazil now has 4 points and a better goal difference than Maroko, while Haiti’s path to the knockout stage is nearly closed.
Brazil beat Haiti 3-0 in a Group C match at the 2026 World Cup at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia on Saturday WIB and moved to the top of the provisional standings. Matheus Cunha made the difference with two goals in the 23rd and 36th minutes, before Vinicius Junior added to the lead at the end of the first half.
The win gave Brazil three valuable points after failing to win its opening match. Selecao now has four points, level with Maroko, but ahead on overall goal difference, with a surplus of three to a surplus of one. Haiti remains without a point and sits at the bottom of the standings, behind Skotlandia, which has three points.
From the start, Brazil was more dominant through the control of Bruno Guimaraes and Lucas Paqueta. Haiti, coached by Sebastien Migne and led by goalkeeper Johny Placide, spent much of the match defending and struggled to build its game until the final whistle.
