BPDP urges Magelang UKMK to develop palm oil derivatives
BPDP said businesses outside palm-growing areas can enter the sector because the national supply chain for raw materials is already connected.
BPDP is encouraging small, micro and cooperative businesses in Magelang, Central Java, to develop palm oil derivative products as a new business opportunity. At the Magelang UKMK Empowerment Workshop and Promosi Sawit Baik 2026, BPDP Community Partnership and UMKM Division Head Helmi Muhansyah said limited raw materials are no longer an obstacle, even though Magelang is not a palm oil-producing area, because the national supply chain is already connected. BPDP offered support through business incubation, training and promotion of products such as soap, cosmetics and handicrafts. Magelang Regent Grengseng Pamuji also said the businesses can start on a small scale without large investment, adding value for local UKMK.
