Bomb hoax empties Singapore's Xinmin Secondary; classes resume

Students and staff at Xinmin Secondary School in Hougang were evacuated Thursday morning after a bomb threat, before police searches found no suspicious items and classes resumed. The school told parents it activated evacuation procedures at 8.28 a.m., while the Singapore Police Force said it was alerted at about 8.20 a.m. School and police checks cleared the campus, and all students and staff were accounted for. CNA reported students were moved to the field after a public-address announcement, with some in the middle of exams. Police are investigating the incident as communicating false information of a harmful thing, an offense that can bring up to seven years in jail, a fine of up to S$50,000, or both.
