Police in Lexington, South Carolina, found a body Wednesday while searching for Elena Katherine Moore, a 39-year-old personal trainer who vanished after leaving a Planet Fitness on June 11. Lexington Police Chief Terrence Green said the body matched the clothing description of the missing woman, but the coroner had not formally identified it. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division has opened an active death investigation. Moore was reported missing the day after she was last seen at the gym on Whiteford Way. Investigators said surveillance footage later showed her walking through a nearby Publix parking lot toward Old Cherokee Road at about 9:17 p.m. A tip about a sighting in the North Lake Drive and Old Cherokee Road area led search crews to the body.
