Body believed to be Kansas City highway shooting suspect is found
What's new: Police said the remains were found in a burned Missouri home after a weeklong manhunt tied to six shootings.
Police in Missouri said a body believed to be Oscar Sanchez-Munoz, 22, was found in the basement of a burned home, likely ending a weeklong manhunt over a deadly string of highway shootings near Kansas City. Authorities said the suspect's family called police after finding decomposing remains beneath debris inside the Independence home. Investigators had searched the property before, but said a partially collapsed, flooded basement and heavy clutter complicated the effort. Sanchez-Munoz was wanted in connection with at least six shootings across multiple states that left one person dead and four others injured, including an Uber driver transporting soccer fans near Arrowhead Stadium. A medical examiner is set to confirm the identity and cause of death.
