Bobby Nasution urges food program rollout down to villages

He cites Perum Bulog data showing domestic rice procurement reached 3.5 million tons, or 87 percent of the 4 million-ton target.

North Sumatra Governor Bobby Nasution called for food security programs to be carried out down to the village level, saying food is a basic need that government must guarantee at every level. He made the remarks after the closing of the Tani Merdeka Sumut-Aceh training and education program at the North Sumatra provincial human resources development office in Medan on Tuesday. Bobby said President Prabowo Subianto's food priorities are already starting to show results in agriculture. He cited Perum Bulog data as of July 24, 2026, showing domestic farmers' harvest procurement had reached 3.5 million tons of rice equivalent, or 87 percent of the national target of 4 million tons. Bobby also urged Tani Merdeka to work with the North Sumatra provincial government. Tani Merdeka Sumut chairman Gusmiyadi backed plans for agricultural and livestock zoning in North Sumatra.
