BNPP advances 552 border programs worth Rp11.3 trillion

The 2026 budget is up 77.46 percent from Rp6.4 trillion, with a focus on PLBN, the RI-Malaysia border and illegal crossings.

The National Border Management Agency is pushing stronger state border management through 552 2026 programs worth Rp11.3 trillion carried out by 29 ministries and agencies in 18 border provinces. BNPP Secretary Makhruzi Rahman said the allocation is up 77.46 percent from 2025, when it stood at Rp6.4 trillion. At a coordination forum for the PBWN-KP action plan in Bandung on July 30, BNPP highlighted four main issues for 2025-2029: more even development of border areas, settlement of borders with neighboring countries, stronger cross-border management, and institutional effectiveness. Indonesia still faces work on a number of border segments with Malaysia and Timor Leste, including social impacts after the settlement of Outstanding Boundary Problems in Simantipal, Pulau Sebatik. In Pontianak, BNPP also took part in the 39th Sosek Malindo session with the Sarawak delegation to discuss trade, transportation, security, and labor at the border.
